h(y)o͞oɡə

Hygge, however you choose to pronounce it, is a powerful word.

What is Hygge?

Coziness. Comfort. Content.

Hygge To Me

I have always had an affinity for all things Scandanavian. The most magical adventure of my life was visiting Norway for a dear friend’s wedding and hiking/camping at Trolltunga in the summertime (see right image). The culture, the kindness, the landscapes, the design, the music… I adore everything short of fish in a tube. When I learned about Hygge, I decided I wanted to center my life around the notion. Hygge, to me, is comfort, warmth, self content, and happiness. Hygge means being present and enjoying life’s simple pleasures with those you love. What better way to practice a hyggelig lifestyle than in a simple van? My comfort is in the unknowns of an open highway and no itinerary surrounded by those I love.

Hygge explained.

It’s pretty abstract, but Hygge has a different to every person. Here’s a video of someone named Anna searching for the true meaning of Hygge in Denmark.

Hygge Rig.

It doesn’t rhyme unless you want it to.
